Design & Visualization of Artificial Terrain

We design climbing walls, boulders, sculpted rockwork, and movement-driven terrain for indoor and outdoor environments. This work focuses on form, flow, user engagement, and integration with architectural and site conditions, and typically results in a 3D concept model used to guide downstream decisions.

Concept to Terrain.

Each project begins with a clear design intent and a deep understanding of place. We translate that intent into cohesive terrain concepts that align form, flow, and user experience before downstream decisions are made.

Design Services and Pricing

  • Typical range: $2,000 – $6,500

Fees are based on design effort rather than square footage alone. Pricing reflects terrain complexity, number of interfaces with adjacent systems, and the level of design exploration required. Simple, well-defined scopes fall at the lower end of the range, while immersive or highly integrated environments fall at the upper end.

  • Still renderings generated from the concept model to support proposals, presentations, and stakeholder review. These visuals are intended to clearly communicate form, scale, and intent, rather than final marketing imagery.

    From $1,000

  • Short animated sequences used to communicate spatial flow, circulation, and overall experience. Fly-throughs are particularly useful for complex terrain or multi-zone environments where movement is central to understanding the design.

    From $1,500

Design & Engineering Consulting

We provide specialized consulting support to architecture, design, and engineering teams working on projects that include climbing, rockwork, or movement-driven terrain. Our role is to inform early planning, clarify structural and operational requirements, identify cost drivers, and improve coordination efficiency across disciplines.

Embedded Expertise

We help teams understand what drives complexity and cost, enabling smarter planning and smoother execution.

Consultation Pricing

  • $2,500

Consulting engagements begin with a short base scope to establish alignment, with hourly support available thereafter as needed.

Includes up to 8 hours of consulting support

  • Engagement Fee includes up to 8 hours of consulting support

Hourly Rate (thereafter): $225 / hour

Technical Development

We support project teams by translating design intent into clear, buildable documentation suitable for pricing, coordination, and bid review. Deliverables may include plan views, elevations, typical details, and written specifications or construction narratives developed for bid packages.

Technical Development engagements begin with a base technical package, with hourly coordination support available thereafter. Redpoint works alongside architects, engineers, and installers and does not produce full construction document sets.

Where design intent becomes buildable clarity.

Each project begins with a clear design intent and a deep understanding of place. We translate that intent into cohesive terrain concepts that align form, flow, and user experience before downstream decisions are made.

Technical Development Pricing

  • $4,500 base fee

Includes a limited drawing and narrative package sufficient for pricing, coordination, and bid alignment. Typical deliverables may include:

    • Plan view(s)

    • Elevations

    • Typical details or sections specific to the construction

    • Written specifications and/or construction narratives suitable for bid packages

This package establishes clear design intent and scope boundaries while allowing the project team to develop final construction documents.

  • $225 / hour

Applied for continued coordination and support during design development, bidding, or early execution.

    Hourly support may include:

    • Drawing reviews and markups

    • Interface and scope clarification

    • Coordination with installation teams

    • Bid-phase and early construction questions

Hourly support may be scoped, capped, or transitioned into an embedded collaboration as appropriate.

  • Short animated sequences used to communicate spatial flow, circulation, and overall experience. Fly-throughs are particularly useful for complex terrain or multi-zone environments where movement is central to understanding the design.

    From $1,500

Facility Inspections

We provide site inspections and design reviews of existing artificial terrain, climbing structures, and rockwork environments. These evaluations support safety assessment, maintenance planning, and informed decision-making for upgrades or future development.

Inspections include on-site observation of terrain condition, use patterns, interfaces, and operational context, followed by a written summary of findings and recommendations. Reports document observed conditions, priority concerns, maintenance considerations, and recommended next steps, and are typically delivered within 7–10 business days.

Inspections are conducted in alignment with Climbing Wall Association (CWA) inspection requirements and are suitable for facilities requiring documented third-party inspection as part of operational or insurance standards.

Clear insight. Confident decisions.

Clear, third-party inspection reports that identify issues, prioritize next steps, and support safe, confident decision-making.

Inspection Pricing

  • $3,500 flat fee

Includes up to 8 hours of professional review.

    This inspection includes:

    • One site visit (½ to 1 full day, depending on scope)

    • Review of existing terrain, structures, and observed use conditions

    • A written report of findings and recommendations

Inspections are intended to support planning, maintenance decisions, and future development considerations.

  • $225 / hour
Applied only if follow-up coordination, additional review, or expanded support is requested after the initial inspection.

  • Travel-related expenses are reimbursable and passed through at cost, with no markup. All travel is coordinated in advance.
